007JL Player Props: How One Player's Numbers Settle a Bet
Player props are bets on one player's own statistics, such as points, rebounds or assists, rather than the result of the game.
| Fact | Value |
|---|---|
| 007JL Betslip, Line by Line | A betslip lists your selection, the market, the odds, your stake and the potential return. |
| 007JL Bookie and the Bookmaker Role Explained | A bookie sets odds on every outcome of an event, takes bets on all sides and adjusts prices to balance the book. |
| 007JL Hedge Betting | Hedge betting means placing a second bet on the opposite outcome of a bet you already hold, so the result is fixed whichever side wins. |
| 007JL Odds | Odds state how much comes back for a stake and, by the same number, how likely the book thinks the outcome is. |
| 007JL Over Under | An over under bet picks whether the combined total of a match lands above or below a set line. |
| 007JL Vig and Juice Betting, Worked Out in Pesos | The vig is the margin built into a set of odds. |
| 007JL What Is Handicap in Betting | A handicap adds or subtracts goals or points from one side before the bet is settled. +1.5 wins if your side loses by one or wins or draws; -1.5 wins only if your side wins by two or more. |
Player props are bets on what one player does, not on who wins. The market names a player and a stat, sets a line, and you pick over or under. Your team can lose the game by thirty and the bet still pays, provided the player’s number clears the line.
The amounts on this page are round-number examples chosen for the arithmetic. They are not prices from any lobby. The overall layout of a sportsbook is described in the 007JL betting reference, and this page covers only how a single player’s figures settle.
Player props settled: the line against the final stat
A prop line is a number the player either exceeds or falls short of. It works like a totals line, except the total belongs to one person.
| Prop | Line | Final stat | Over | Under |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Points | 24.5 | 27 | Wins | Loses |
| Points | 24.5 | 24 | Loses | Wins |
| Rebounds | 8.5 | 9 | Wins | Loses |
| Assists | 6 | 6 | Stake returned | Stake returned |
| Assists | 6 | 7 | Wins | Loses |
Half lines never land exactly, so every bet wins or loses. A whole-number line can land on the figure, and the stake comes back.
Example: ₱100 on over 24.5 points at decimal 1.90. The player scores 27. The return is ₱190 in total, a profit of ₱90. At 24 points the ₱100 is lost.
NBA player props: the usual markets
NBA player props are the most common example because the box score records so many separate numbers. Each stat is its own bet, and each has its own line.
| Market | What counts | Typical shape of the line |
|---|---|---|
| Points | Field goals and free throws made | A half line such as 24.5 |
| Rebounds | Offensive plus defensive | A half line such as 8.5 |
| Assists | Passes that lead to a made basket | A half or whole line |
| Three-pointers made | Successful three-point shots | A half line such as 2.5 |
| Points + rebounds + assists | The three stats summed | A larger half line |
A combined market adds the stats before comparing with the line, so one big figure can carry a weak one. Read the market name carefully: points over 24.5 and points plus rebounds over 24.5 are very different bets.
Reading the price on a prop
A prop is priced like any other selection. A decimal price of 1.90 on each side means the stake returns 1.90 times on a win, and the gap between the two sides’ implied chances is the bookmaker’s margin. How decimal, fractional and American prices say the same thing is on the reading betting odds page.
| Decimal price | ₱100 stake returns | Profit |
|---|---|---|
| 1.80 | ₱180 | ₱80 |
| 1.90 | ₱190 | ₱90 |
| 2.00 | ₱200 | ₱100 |
| 2.20 | ₱220 | ₱120 |
Before you confirm a prop
Three checks apply to every player bet, and each takes seconds on the betslip.
- Read the player’s name and the stat. A similar name is another person.
- Read the line and the side. Over 24.5 and under 24.5 sit next to each other.
- Read the settlement rule for a player who does not play, and whether overtime counts toward the figure.
Each line of the slip is explained on the page about how to read your betslip. Check it, then confirm.
FAQ
What are player props?
They are bets on a single player's statistics in one game: points scored, rebounds, assists, shots, goals. The team's result does not matter, only the player's number.
How is a player prop settled?
The player's final recorded figure is compared with the line. Over wins if the figure is above the line, under wins if it is below, and a whole-number line that is hit exactly returns the stake.
What happens if the player does not play?
Settlement for a player who does not take the court is set by the market's own rule. Open the rules on the betslip before you confirm and read what that market does with a non-starter.
Are NBA player props different from other sports?
The settlement works the same way. NBA lines are usually points, rebounds, assists and three-pointers, so the numbers are larger and the lines move with the minutes a player is expected to play.
